Why choose reusable trainers?
01. Disposable pull-ups are expensive! And they get used and tossed regardless of whether your child has had an accident. You spend more on your Thirsties Trainers upfront, but a single investment of reusables will last all the way through potty training.
02. They look and feel more like underwear which is more comfortable and appealing to children seeking to feel more grown-up and independent.
03. Many families have discovered that their child potty-learns much faster when they can feel the wetness of the cotton after an accident. Disposable pull-ups feel just like disposable diapers and often prolong the potty-training process.
04. Reusable trainers significantly reduce the amount of waste generated in comparison to disposable pull-ups.
About our Trainers
Our reusable Trainers are the perfect sidekick for your child’s potty-training journey! Crafted from ultra-soft organic cotton, these trainers are thoughtfully designed to manage those little accidents that happen along the way. With multiple absorbent layers in the soaker zone and a hidden waterproof layer, they are reliable in containing accidental leaks.
Our easy pull-up design lets your little one feel independent, while the convenient side snap openings make cleanup quick and simple for those occasional messy moments.
We recommend having 6-8 Trainers in rotation if your child is just being introduced to potty learning. If your child has been practicing for a while and accidents are rare, you can probably get away with just 3 Trainers in rotation.
As with all Thirsties products, these adorable trainers are sewn right here in Colorado.
Transitioning to Training Pants
Reusable training pants are a wonderful stepping stone, but they work a bit differently than regular diapers! Their main goal is to help your toddler learn when it's time to use the potty.
• How they work: Unlike diapers, trainers hold less liquid on purpose so your child can feel wetness and learn to connect the sensation to using the potty.
• Getting started during the day: If you're just making the switch, we recommend trying them out at home during the day. This lets you keep a close eye on things and gently help your little one recognize and respond whenever a little dribble happens.
• Moving to nighttime: Once your child is regularly making it to the potty during the day, you can add a waterproof mattress protector and start testing their readiness for nighttime potty learning!
• Need overnight full protection? If you're looking for a 100% waterproof solution for overnight, we recommend sticking with reusable diapers for now.
