Is it a boy? Or is it a girl? Let the old wives tell you!

When I was pregnant with my daughter I was supposed to not find out the gender. I say "supposed to" because that ended up
Girl or Boy Graphic. Thirsties
not happening at our ultrasound (it was my fault but that's a story for another time). Before my 20 week ultrasound I conducted practically every gender prediction test out there on myself. It was a fun little experiment and to be honest the majority of the tests were spot on. I thought I'd tell you the tests that I did and then you can tell me which ones you've tried. Chinese Pregnancy Calendar - I have to admit, I planned my first pregnancy and second based on this calendar. A former co-worker introduced it to me years before I even conceived my first and she swore that as odd as it may sound, the results were correct for her. I've only known one person it was incorrect for. Click here to figure out if it was correct for you. They say you should use your Chinese lunar age when you do this because supposedly it's more accurate. I never did that and it was accurate for both of my pregnancies! Penny Test - This one sounds crazy and it's a little gross it was correct for predicting the gender of my daughter. Basically you spit on a penny and stick it to the wall. If it stays on the wall you'll be welcoming a little girl into the world. If it falls off of the wall, you'll be painting that baby room blue. You do have to do the test in the first trimester though and I believe that it's more accurate if it's done before week ten. Ring on a String - Tie a ring or thread a needle on a string and have someone hold it over your pregnant belly. If the ring moves in a circular motion then it's a girl. If it swings back and forth like the pendulum of a clock then you'll be having a boy. Baking Soda - This is also known as the Drano test because you can do this with Drano, however, that is dangerous so I'm not advising it. What you'll want to do is pee in a cup and then add baking soda to the filled cup; if it fizzes then it's a boy. No fizzle? Then it's a girl. Heartbeat - This was correct for both of my children, however, I have known a quite a few people that this was wrong for. If the heartbeat is below 145 then it's a boy and anything higher then it's a girl. Those are just a few of the many old wives tales that are out there for gender prediction tests. Like I said, sometimes they're right and sometimes they aren't. If you're like me and you want to know right away give it a try and have fun. What gender prediction tests have you done? What were your results? Was it right?

  • I think it’s funny that people do these kinds of gender predictions. People years ago couldn’t see any ultrasound and were fine waiting to see the child at birth. I think technology has a lot to do with the impatience of the world around us. Email, text messages, etc. Everything technology related is super fast so people need to know all that’s going on. I completely understand if you can’t wait to see who the child is at birth. However the gender predictors are hilarious. Only God, the Creator of your child knows who he’s blessing you with, why don’t we ask Him instead of doing these tests that have no real accuracy? Just my opinion :)

  • I didn’t want to get into the superstitions, but after my son was born I kind of wish I had tried each of these to see what the outcomes showed. It would have been fun!
