Beating the heat...sustainably ☀️

Many of our fans reading this blog post will be sweltering in those lazy, hazy days of summer. Here in Virginia, this entire week is 104+
(my favorite season is Autumn, so I have learned to view this as a rite of passage to get to crunchy leaf season....)
Keeping yourself and your children cool is not only a comfort issue, but a health and safety issue. Here are some of my favorite tips to beat the heat with mother earth in mind:
  • Keep water nearby and cool! A reusable water bottle is the best way to keep single use plastic bottles out of our landfills. Most of your favorite baby stores have adorable print bottles with either sippy or straw tops to start a life-long journey of cold water at the ready.
  • Sunscreen should be handy for quick outdoor adventures. In your purse or diaper bag, grab a mini wet bag or clutch for all of your summertime sunscreen and first aid needs.

  • Cool treats make snacking fun!  Freeze-pops are the best summer treat, keep those plastic wrappers at bay by making your own, plus you can get creative with what they are made from.

  • Take breaks when needed- Some days just require hanging out at the house for those hot midday hours. Pick up a new board game to help pass the time, some of my children's favorites are Candy Land, Twister and Go Fish 🐠
